Felt Steam Train Garland

Here is a steam train garland I made for my son Rowan. He loves trains and likes nothing better than to watch them go by on the Newcastle to Carlisle line that runs through our village. As well as passenger trains there is a good selection of freight each day. Sometimes at weekends big 125s and 225s are diverted via Carlisle and so travel through Wylam if work is being done on the East Coast main line. Occasionally the odd steam train passes our way.
The trains are a wee bit small and I'm sure thicker felt would be good.

Gardener Pixie Peg

I made this peg for our neighbour Normans 80th Birthday. He spent his working life as a parks gardener and is an endless source of information on gardening and life in general. I had to put it together in somewhat of a hurry, but am quite pleased with it. I made the arms from the ends of a wooden coffee stirrer and the spade is made from a lollipop and a cocktail stick. Watch this space for more pegs with arms.

Pink Heart Garland

Here is my second attempt at a heart Garland, slightly thicker felt this time makes them less floaty. I have ordered some extra thick 100% wool felt from a company called Blooming Felt, so looking forward to working with this. I have hung this garland in my daughter Robyns room, I hope she isn't too offended by the colour. She is going through a rebellion against pink phase.

Heart Garland

This is my first attempt at a felt heart garland. It took a while to cut out a heart with a shape I was happy with. I only had some thin red felt, hence the floaty quality. Some thick felt would make a better job. They still look cute though on our fireplace.

Sweetheart Pixies

I really love these three little pegs,I have used my new glue gun on some of the details. They have been a pleasure to make. I have tried to make the facial expressions the same , but they always turn out different, just like they each have their own personality.

Celtic Pixie

Heres a little peg that I've had on the go for a while, I've several others that I just can't seem to get finished. Hopefully this will be the week. The skeleton leaves make perfect wings.

Snow Pixie

Here is a pixie peg inspired by all the wintery weather we've been having lately.The river Tyne was partialy frozen this morning at the points bridge and lots of pancake ice was flowing down the centre. I havent seen it like that for about 15 or so years. Cant say i'm 100% happy with this peg, its hard to make white felt look good. Have used the glue gun I got for Christmas a few times today. Its very useful.Wondering if more snow tonight will mean schools closed....hope so.
